Many years ago, Thomas J. Brooks,
my paternal grandfather, left Jellico, Tennessee, and migrated to Ohio
where I was born. Southwestern Ohio was a great place to grow up living
across from Wright-Patterson Air Base, and what is now the United States
Air Force Museum.
Upon graduating from The Ohio State University, in 1964, I was employed
with two different corporations, four years each, where I learned I was
not satisfied in the corporate world. In 1972, I founded Rickane Pest
Control in the small town of Ortonville, in Southeastern Michigan. In
1978, with my wife Judy, who was in Real Estate sales for 30 years, we
started Rickane Investment, a Real Estate holding & investing company.
After retiring in 1999, we moved to Montana for two years, then back to
Ohio for two years. Discovering that retirement was not for us, Judy
became a Bank Manager & Loan Officer in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. I
played golf for another year, and decided it was time to do something I
always wanted to do – I became a Realtor®. I am in Real Estate Sales
because I thoroughly enjoy it, and the satisfaction I receive from doing
it.
With my great grandfather, and great, great grandfather buried in
cemeteries in Jellico, Tennessee, I would say that I have come full
circle to my roots. I have become Tennessee Tom, and I say welcome to
the great state of Tennessee!
